Melisa Kose

Melisa Kose is a NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre PhD Student at King’s College London’s IoPPN. She is also a Co-founder and Co-Editor of mental health publication Inspire the Mind, and the Social Media Editor of the official PsychoNeuroImmunology Research Society (PNIRS) journals BBI and BBI-Health. Her current research focusses on the dialogue between biological and psychological factors in mental health disorders, namely how the immune system can impact and be impacted by disorders such as depression.

Following a BSc in Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Westminster, during which she was awarded the Undergraduate Award by the British Association of Psychopharmacology (BAP) for the successful presentation of her first poster at her first scientific conference and later was also a recipient of the BAP’s Summer Internship bursary and, most recently, the Training Member bursary, Melisa completed an MSc in Neuroscience at King’s College London in 2022. During this time of study and working as a researcher for now over 4 years, when she has co-authored seven papers in scientific journals (plus one as first-author), Melisa will soon begin the next stage in her research career as a PhD student in the field of neuropsychiatry.
