Naghmeh Nikkheslat
Dr Naghmeh Nikkheslat completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2010 from Roehampton University in London and then received her PhD in 2014 in Life Sciences and more specifically in the field of psychoneuroendocrinology looking at the role of inflammation in heart disease patients with depression. Following the completion of her doctoral studies, Naghmeh took on a postdoctoral position at the department of Psychological Medicine, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at Kings College London. She has been involved in various projects and clinical trials investigating stress, neuroendocrine dysregulation, immune activation, and inflammation in mental disorders. She is currently a senior postdoctoral researcher at the Stress, Psychiatry and Immunology Laboratory (SPI Lab) and Psychoimmunometabolix and Interactions with the Environment Laboratory (PIXIE Lab) with an interest in looking at the role of adverse life experiences and neuroendocrine and immune systems in development of psychiatric disorders and the response to psychopharmacological treatment. Naghmeh teaches the area of her expertise and delivers lectures for various MSc programmes at King’s College London. She is part of the Denmark Hill Campus Human Tissue Act group acting as a Person Designated and also appointed as Departmental Biological Safety Supervisor.
